GREEN eMAGAZINE (VOLUME: 01)

Editorial ...

As the Executive Director of Legal Research Institute of Pakistan’s (LRIP) Center of Excellence for Energy Studies (CEES) and LRIP-CEES Environment Programme (LCEP), and the Editor in Chief of Green E-Mag, it is a matter of immense pleasure to write the first ever editorial for this revolutionary magazine which is in fact the first step towards a Green Pakistan, and declare this first edition to humanity.

CEES conducted a study on environment and discovered that the World Health Organization has declared three of Pakistan’s cities, Quetta, Peshawar and Lahore, as the 4th, 6th and 10th most polluted cities in the world respectively, and hence declared Environmental Pollution as a very important question of public importance to be addressed. Subsequently, after achieving a set of milestones, LRIP, under its department CEES, established the LRIP-CEES Environmental Programme (LCEP) on 21st June 2014 and declared the beginning of an Environmental Revolution in Pakistan. LCEP has been divided into five divisions and under the Division of Communications and Public Information (DCPI), a magazine called “Green” was proposed to be published on monthly basis. In this perspective, LRIP signed a Memorandum of Understanding with A.V.I.R.A. to work together in order to bring the proposal to fruitarian in the form of an E-Magazine.

I was very glad to witness all the hard work that was equally put in by the teams of LRIP and A.V.I.R.A., as well as our awesome youth who participated by contributing their brilliant and thought provoking ideas, articles, art works and photographs. We got representations from many students from different schools, colleges and universities from different parts of the country, and as a result we are all set to launch this Green Revolution on this prestigious occasion that is the Independence Day of our beloved Motherland, Pakistan.

With this, I welcome our respected and dear readers to the first edition of Green E-Mag with a hope that they will also join us in this noble cause in the best interest of humanity.
